Most schools are going to start a program called B.Y.O.T.(bring your own technology)This program allows students to bring iPads, cell phones or other things to school for study. One aim(目标)for this program is that the students don’t need to carry textbooks any

more. They can download math, science, social studies, and read textbooks on their iPads. Another one is that they can get free educational subjects to play in their free time!

Schools have set up a free Wi-Fi system just for the B.Y.O.T. program. Thank teachers for all their hard work to set this program up. I really think this program will go well in most schools and I also think the learning will be better than ever.

However, some schools will probably not allow this because they think that it will make kids mess around too much and they might break their iPads.

This program will let students have fun and learn at the same time. If you like your iPads and you like to read, school is getting started with reading with iPads. Many high schools and middle schools have already started and so have some primary schools. But most primary schools are coming along! Let’s tell them: Hurry! Get ready to learn! 41. In the program B.Y.O.T., students usually go to school without ___________.

A. taking iPads C. learning math

B. taking textbooks

D. learning Science

42. What is the program B.Y.O.T. used for?

A. Saving money. C. Studying.

B. Playing. D. Making friends.

Your body is special- no two people in the world are alike. Although you are different from everyone else, you have exactly the same body parts as the people around you, doing

6

different jobs that keep all of us alive.

What is inside my head?

Your head houses the most valuable part of your body-your brain. As you are reading, your eyes send pictures to your brain which makes meaning from what you see. Your brain helps you to remember and think, and makes sure your body is doing what it should.

What is my skin (皮肤)for?

Your skin covers your body. In most parts of your body, the skin is just as thick as half a centimeter (cm). If you have your skin cut, it will have a quick cure (愈合)and stop viruses (病毒)from getting into your body. Your skin also helps you feel the heat and coldness of the environment around you. Hair grows from inside the skin. When you feel hot, extra heat comes out through your skin. As a result, your body temperature (温度)drops.

How do I move?

Muscles(肌肉)are found in most parts of your body. They work with your bones to help you move ---whenever you cry or smile, eat or speak, walk or dance, etc.

Why do I breathe?

Your body needs to take in oxygen (氧气)from the air and give out the unwanted carbon dioxide (二氧化碳)in the body. When you breathe, air comes through your nose and mouth into your lungs where oxygen flows to different parts of your body.

What makes me sneeze(打喷嚏)?

When dust or a strong smell gets into your nose, you sneeze. This is the way your body cleans up the dust in your nose. Your lungs push out the air and try to clear your nose.

What does my heart do?

Your heart is a very special muscle. It is slightly bigger than your fist (拳头)and grows bigger as you do. If you place your hand on your heart, you will feel your heart beating which forces blood to move around your body. 45. Which part is the most valuable part of your body?

A. My skin.

B. My brain.

C. My mouth.

D. My nose.

46. If you have no skin covering your body, what would happen?

A. Viruses can’t get into our body easily.

7

B. Our body can be guarded (保护)by our hair. C. Extra heat can only stay inside our body. D. We can’t feel the changes in temperature. 47. What can you learn about your body?

A. Sneezing is a way to clear our nose. B. Our heart is the same size from birth. C. We take in carbon dioxide to stay alive. D. Our muscles stop working when we cry. 48. Which is the best title for this passage?

A. What Your Body Needs B. How Your Body Works C. Why Your Body Grows D. When Your Body Moves

Need to buy something? Why go to a store? Buy it on the Internet! Need it now? Why wait? Ask for next-day delivery (投递)!Each day, more and more people try online shopping. In fact, online sales have doubled in the last ten years. But not everyone is excited. Some scientists now say that online shopping is bad for the environment.

People are surprised to hear this. “They think, ‘I don’t need to drive, and the business doesn’t need to build a store, so there will be less pollution, ”says Nuria Prost, an environmental scientist. “But it is not so simple. In fact, online shopping is wasteful. It also adds to air pollution.”

In truth, the Internet is not always as good a friend to the environment as it seems. For example, most people thought that the Internet would help offices use less paper and other materials. But paper use increased by 33 percent between 1986 and 1997. “Online shopping could have similarly negative (负面)effects (影响),”says Nevil Cohen, a professor of environmental science.

Part of the problem is what people are buying these days. In the past, people bought things on the Internet that did not require much packing (包装)material(材料), such as books and clothing. But now people also shop online for large, heavy products (产品)
