Step 2.解疑释难

1. But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits.但是你是否能把这做好取决于你的学习习惯。

1) 此句中whether or not you can do it well是个从句,用作整个句子的主语。这种 从句叫作“主语从句”。又如:

Whether you did it right or wrong isn’t so important. What’s important is the experience you gained. 你做的是否正确不重要,重要的是你获得的经验。

2) whether or not 引导主语从句,意思和功能相当于whether, 表示“是否”,常出现在宾语从句、主语从句中。使用时,也可把whether和or not分开,or not放到句尾。 例如:

I can’t tell whether or not the teacher likes me.

此句也可以写成: I can’t tell whether the teacher likes me or not. 3)depend on“视...而定;取决于;依靠”,后加名词、代词、动名词。不能用于进行时态和被动语态。

e.g. We depend on the newspaper for daily news.

You may depend on his coming. 对应训练:

+of 担心害怕某事 be afraid + to do 害怕去做某事 + that 后跟从句

e.g. I used to be afraid of snakes.我以前害怕蛇。

She is afraid to tell her parents the truth.她害怕把真相告诉父母。

The young lady is afraid that she will be asked to see her master.那位年轻女子害怕见她的老板。

拓展:be terrified of表示真的被吓着了,而且是一种恐惧,程度要比afraid强得多。 (2)keep doing sth.意为“一直做某事”

e.g. She keeps practicing speaking English as usual.他一直像往常一样练习说英语。 对应训练:
