【点拨】vt. 搜查、搜身 They searched every part of the forest. 他们搜查了森林的每个部分。 They searched him for the watch. 他们在他身上搜那块表。 I’ve searched my memory but can’t remember that man’s name. 我使劲儿回忆但是记不起那个人的名字。 search for sb./ sth. 寻找某人/物 search through …到处寻找、把……搜遍: They searched for him, but in vain. 他们到处找他,但没找到。 He searched through all the drawers for the key. 他搜遍所有的抽屉找钥匙。 注意:search through的宾语只能是物。即search through sth.(for sth) n. 搜索 the/ a/ one’s search for… 特指某次“搜寻”, 可与after连用: The search for the little girl went on all day. 对那个女孩的搜寻持续了一整天。

【点拨】vt. & vi. 允许(人或物)进入;让……进入: admit sb. to/into…允许某人进入;吸收某人为……的成员 This ticket admits two persons. 这张票可让两人进场。 be admitted as…作为……被接受(后接表示成员的名词) 容纳: This classroom admits only 20 students. 这个教室只能容纳20个学生。 承认,供认: admit (+to) + sth./doing sth. 承认某事/做过某事 admit + that-clause 承认……

honor

【点拨】n. 光荣的人或事(通常用an honor): He is an honor to our school. 他是我们学校的荣耀。 荣誉;信誉;名誉: He won honor for his motherland. 他为祖国赢得了荣誉。 尊敬;敬意:show honor to…对……表示敬意 vt. 尊敬,给某人以荣誉: honor sb. with sth. 用某事来向某人表达敬意 be/feel honored to do sth.(做某事)感到荣幸 Will you honor me with a visit? 你能赏脸来看我一下吗?

【拓展】其他可具体化的抽象名词,表示“一个……的人、一件……的事”的单词还有:surprise, pleasure, delight, success, failure等等。

replace

【点拨】vt. 代替,取代,替换: replace sth./sb. (with/by... ) (用……)取代某事/某人 Then, can you replace them with a larger size? 那可不可以换一双大一点的?

They replaced their beloved old car with expensive new sports cars. (2015 浙江高考) 他们用昂贵的新跑车代替了心爱的旧车。 把……放回原处: He picked them up and replaced them in the bag. 他把它们捡了起来, 放回包里。 【拓展】take the place of sb./ sth. = replace sb./ sth. 代替某人/某物 take one’s place = take one’s seat 就坐 in place of /instead of 取代 fine

【点拨】If you say that you are fine, you mean that you are in good health or reasonably happy. 如果你说你“fine”,你的意思是你身体状况良好,或者心情不错。 Lina is fine and sends you her best wishes. 莉娜很好,她向你表示问候。 Something that is fine is very delicate, narrow, or small. “fine”还可以指某个东西精美的、狭窄的或者细小的。 His pen is very fine. 他的笔很细。 If you say that something is fine, you mean that it is satisfactory or acceptable. 如果你说某物“fine”,意指它比较令人满意,可以接受。 Everything was going to be just fine. 一切都会很正常。 You say “fine” or “that’s fine” to show that you do not object to an arrangement, action, or situation that has been suggested. 当你不想反对某个安排、行为或建议时,你可以说“fine”或者“that’s fine”. If competition is the best way to achieve it, then, fine. 如果竞争是达到它最好方法的话,那好吧。

worth

【点拨】要注意worth是形容词而不是别的词性,而且后面要加“宾语”。 If something is worth a particular amount of money, it can be sold for that amount or is considered to have that value. 如果某物“is worth”一笔钱,它能以那个价格被出售或者被认为值“那笔钱”。 The book may be worth $80 or more to a collector. 对一个收藏者来说,这本书值80美元,或者更多。 The contract was worth $25 million a year. 这份合同值两千五百万美元一年。 If you say that something is worth having, you mean that it is pleasant or useful, and therefore a good thing to have. 如果说某物值得“be worth having”,意思是那是一件可爱的、有用的、值得拥有的东西。 He's decided to get a look at the house and see if it might be worth buying. 他决定去看看这房子,看是否值得买下。 If this was what his job required, then the job wasn't really worth having. 如果这是他的工作需要的话,那这份工作不值得拥有。 Most things worth having never come easy. 大部分值得拥有的东西都不容易得到。 If something is worth a particular action, or if an action is worth doing, it is considered to be important enough for that action. 如果某事物值得特别的举动,它被认为足够重要,值得采取行动。 No one is worth a great deal of sacrifice. 没有人值得牺牲。 This restaurant is well worth a visit. 这家餐馆很值得一去。

【点拨】adv. 不管怎样说, 无论如何, 至少: He told me not to buy it, but I bought it anyhow. 他告诉我不要买它, 但不管怎样, 我还是买了。 不论用何种方法, 无论从什么角度: It may snow, but anyhow I will go to the town. 可能要下雪,但无论如何我都要进城。
