(三) 形容词转译 形容词转译动词
英语句子中表示知觉、情欲、欲望等心理状态的形容词，在连系动词后作表语时，往往转译为动词。常见形容词有：able, afraid, angry, sure, grateful, confident等等。 Eg:
They were not content with their present achievements. 他们不满足于现有的成就。
They were suspicious and resentful of him. 他们不信任他，讨厌他。
If we were ignorant of the structure of the atom, it would be impossible for us to study nuclear physics.
如果我们不知道原子的结构，我们就不能研究核子物理学。
形容词转译名词
英语句子中，某些形容词加上定冠词表示某一类人，翻译时可变成名词；另可视具体情况将形容词转译名词。 Eg:
She had deep sympathy for the insulted and the injured. 她对于受侮辱和受损害的人有深厚的同情心。
They expect us in the EU to work out policies of aid and trade which will show a sympathetic understanding of their own problems.
他们期待我们欧共体制订出对他们的问题表示同情和理解的援助政策与贸易政策。
Television is different from radio in that it sends and receives a picture.
电视与无线电的区别在于电视发送和接收的是图像。 形容词转译副词
英语名词转译动词时，修饰该名词的形容词往往转译为相应的副词。 Eg:
Little by little we sailed along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, making careful observation on the way.
慢慢地，我们沿着太平洋海岸航行，一路仔细观察。 “Yes,” he said with a slow nod or two. “是的，”他慢条斯理地点了点头。
It was a clear and unemotional exposition of the President’s reasons for willing to begin a Chinese-American dialogue. 这篇发言清楚明白、心平气和地说明了总统希望开始中美对话的原因。
(四) 副词转译
副词转译形容词。动词转译为名词时，修饰该动词的副词往往转译为形容词。 Eg:
The electronic computer is chiefly characterized by its accurate and quick computations.
电子计算机的主要特点是计算准确而迅速。
He was deeply impressed by what they did in the critical moment.
他们在关键时刻的行为给他留下了深刻的印象。 The sun rose thinly from the sea. 淡淡的太阳从海上升起。
副词转译名词 Eg:
He is physically weak but mentally sound. 他身体虽弱，但思想健康。
Independent observers have commented favorably on the achievements you have made in this direction.
独立观察家们对你们在这方面取得的成就给予了很高的评价。
副词转译动词。做表语或宾语补足语的副词有时可转译为动词，常见这类副词有in, over, out, through等。
