Next time you’re deciding which movie to watch, consider this: sad movies may make you fatter than comedies.

According to a study, people watching Love Story, an old movie, ate an average of 25g of buttered(有黄油的), salted popcorn. This is about the same amount as a medium-size bag of popcorn sold at most cinemas.

That’s 28 percent more than they ate during Sweet Home Alabama, a 2002 comedy about a fashion designer going home to the rural(乡村的) southern state of the US.

The popcorn experiment(实验) was described in an article in the Journal of Marketing about the connection (关系) between people’s moods and the type and amount of food they eat. Scientists found that people who are feeling unhappy eat large amounts of food that they consider tasty but unhealthy.

In a similar study, college students reading about the death of seven children in a fire ate twice more than usual.

Nitika Garg, a teacher of the University of Mississippi, and one of the writers of the article, says, “When people are sad, they have this need to get a reward(奖赏), and it’s very easy to pick up unhealthy, but tasty food.”

If you don’t want to be a fast growing couch potato, choose to watch the happy movies and make less time for viewing the sad ones, scientists said. 21.Love Story may be a movie. A.sad B.happy C.funny D.boring 22.What did the study find?

A.More people loved to watch sad movies. B.Comedies were less popular among fat people. C.Love Story was still a popular movie today. D.Sad movies may make you fatter than comedies.

It is reported that many beekeepers in Europe have lost between 50% and 70% of their bees. Jim Piper, a London beekeeper, was asked how the problem was affecting him. “My business has been destroyed by this,” he explained. “Twenty-nine of my forty hives(蜂巢) are now empty.”

Why are so many bees disappearing? Recently, some scientists thought that mobile phones may cause the disappearance of bees! As we know, mobile phones are one of the most useful inventions of the last 50 years. It is true that not everything that is said about them is good. But does making a phone call kill bees? Those scientists think that the bees’ navigation(导航) systems are destroyed by the radiation(辐射) that’s given off by mobile phones. This is how mobile phones influence bees. Bees have a built-in system and this helps them find their way back to their hives. And thousands of bees have failed to find their way home. It is believed they are dying far from their hives.

The problem of bees’ dying was first noticed by beekeepers in America. And it is a lot more complicated than it seemed at first. How would humans be influenced without bees? Well, most of the crops in many countries of the world are pollinated(授粉) by them. Without bees, the crops can’t continue to grow.

Bees are disappearing in very large numbers and we can’t manage without them. Einstein said that if all our bees disappeared, man would only live for four more years! The situation needs to be studied and checked by the world’s best scientists. If the mobile phone theory is correct, we need to do something about it immediately—before it’s too late.
