12. C。该句的谓语have come to see是表示“变化过程”,所以用gradually表示“渐渐地”。 13. D。 14. A。

I can express myself more easily in English.

16. them。指代“the words ‘I love you’”,words为复数,用them。 17. to say。 18. older。

19. when。

20. After。 21. other。

22. awkwardly。 23. will say。 24. with。

25. as/because。

Dear Joe, I’m glad to receive your letter. It is true that to read successfully requires correct ways of reading. Here are some suggestions.

Firstly, choose books which are neither too difficult nor too easy for you to read. If you find a

book too difficult to go on with, just put it aside for a moment and change an easier one. Secondly, read books that not only interest you but also benefit you, for reading is always just for fun. Thirdly ,as to some books ,you need to read them carefully while as to others, you need to read them roughly. Lastly, don’t forget to take notes, make good use of dictionaries and ask questions whenever necessary.

I wish you will succeed in reading. Yours truly, Li Ping

Study can change us a lot

A college student, who has no confidence with the college education and his future, thinks that study is useless because he is afraid that after spending so much money on college education, he cannot even find a job in the future.

The student’s idea seems to be right but he is certainly wrong. It’s also pitiful that many students of Senior Three in Chongqing refused to have the college entrance examinations after so many years of hard work. It’s true that many Chinese students are very tired under this educational system. With the purpose of entering a so-called good university, we have no choice but to study day and night .However, I intend to raise some doubts against the view that it is useless to study. The influence of higher education is always unobtrusive .As we know, study is a process which can raise your awareness and improve your inner quality and character. Some students think that what we are learning now can’t mostly be used at work in the future and it’s very difficult for an undergraduate to find a job. But I want to ask them how they can find a good job if they haven’t been educated at all.

In fact, study is also a challenge. When we challenge it, we benefit a lot from it, which can make us perseverant, courageous and strong-minded. In conclusion, I want to emphasize my opinion that we must believe knowledge is power. Study can change us a lot!
