Students can master some new words, and learn the information of nature disaster.

1. Students can talk about natural disasters.

2. Ss can develop their reading skills by practicing skimming, scamming,

summarizing and finding out details.

Students know what should they do when a tornado occurs.

1. Ss can grasp how to use skimming to get the general idea of the passage 2. Ss can grasp how to use scanning look for specific information. Teaching different point

How to look for the general idea of a passage. Teaching methods :task-based methodology Teaching aids: blackboard, multimedia Teaching procedures:

1. Lead-in : (2ms)

Brainstorm : List the name of natural disasters. Show some pictures of natural disasters.

2. Pre-reading (8ms)

1) Grouping: divide the class into 4 groups for competition. 2) Check the preview:

i. Explain the words in Excerise1 and Excerise3, check the answer of Excerise3. ii. Read the passage in Excerise1. iii. Check the answer in Excerise1.

Fast reading A1 and racing1 3. While-reading (20ms) A. Fast Reading

Ask Ss to read the passage quickly, and find the topic sentences in each paragraph.

( Give structure of how to find the topic sentences, then check the answer.) B. Detail reading

Listen to the video and read the passage carefully, each group takes charge of answering 2 questions in Exercise 2.

4.post-Reading :discussion and presentation :

Suppose a tornado happens now, what should we do to keep ourselves safe?

Please brainstorm and try to think of as many natural disasters as you can. Please look at the PPT.
