W: Oh, yes. isn’t it? My feet are freezing! I wish that bus would come! M: Have you been waiting long?

W: It feels like hours—but I suppose I’ve only been here ten minute or so. M: That’s long enough in this weather. This is too bad. I hate winter.

W: So do I. And this morning the sun was shining and they were saying light rain. M: I’ve been calling the weather report all day since it started to snow. They’re still

saying one or two inches but we’ve got at least three inches already. My shoes are full of snow.

W: Well, that’s true. Remember last year when they said four inches of snow and we

ended up with four feet?

M: I wasn’t here last year, but we had the same thing in Detroit. We were supposed to

get a little rain one night, but when we woke up, guess what? There were six inches of snow on the ground and it was still coming down hard. I didn’t go to work that day.

W: Well, if it’s really bad, I won’t go in to the office tomorrow—I’ll work at home. M: Of course, if it is possible. Oh, look, there is the bus. W: I’m glad to see that bus.

W: Oh, I’ve got to go. I have to finish my homework first. We’ll have English

tomorrow. Always so much homework! He is too hard. M: Who? Do you mean Mr Brown?

W: Yeah. He is always serious and wants us to do too much. M: But he is only doing his job.

W: His English class is so hard. He gives too much homework for the weekend. It’s

impossible... M: Was impossible.

W: What do you mean “was impossible”

M: I mean “was”—used to be. What do you think I mean? W: Well, why do you say that?

M: I went past Mr. Brown’s house this morning and I saw a truck parked out in front.

There were boxes all over the place. W: Mr. Brown is moving?

M: You know, when I was in the school on Friday, I heard some teachers talking about

his moving to Maryland. I like Mr Brown. He is sometimes hard, but we’ve learned a lot from him. I think he is a good teacher. W: Oh, yeah. That’s true. (第II卷听力)

W: Good afternoon, everyone. After a long distance ride, here we are already in London. This is the second biggest hotel here. In the following days we are traveling around England in this coach. Before we get off the coach, I would like Mr. Tailor to tell us something that we should know in England. And this is Mr. Tailor.

M: Good afternoon, and welcome to England. We hope your visit here will be a pleasant one. Today, I would like to draw your attention to a few of the laws here.

The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy wine or beer if you are under 18 years of age.

Secondly, noise. Enjoy yourselves by all means. But please don’t make unnecessary noise, especially at night.

Thirdly, crossing the road. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use the crossing for walking and don’t take any chances when crossing the road.

My next point is about waste. It’s against the law to throw away waste material in a public place. When you have something to throw away, please put it in your pocket and take it home, or put it in the dustbin.

Finally, smoking. It is against law to buy cigarette s or tobacco if you are under 16 years of age. Thank you.
