Yesterday afternoon I was on duty at the check-in counter. A young man came to me and

asked if his briefcase had been turned in. I said no. Then he looked over my shoulder at the conveyor belt and shouted that he saw his briefcase going through the opening at the end of the conveyor belt. I asked him to give me his baggage claim check, but he said he didn’t have one. He was just there to meet a flight. I then asked him to fill out a claim form and called down to the baggage area. Unfortunately, the briefcase had already been loaded on one of the flights and they didn’t know which one. So I took the young man’s phone number and assured him that we would call as soon as we found the briefcase. I

promised that we would deliver it to his home address in Sioux City.

The young man left. About two hours later, we learned that the briefcase was found in

Denver. One of our workers called the young man to tell him the good news. To our great surprise, the young man said that he had already found his briefcase! It had been in his car! Now we had to look for the owner of the briefcase that we had thought to be the young man’s.
