language acquisition is likely to become faster. Living in host families, students are able to spend a lot of time communicating with their “host parents”, who are often very hospitable and friendly, and get to know the local way of life, people and culture. Most host families are always ready to help students out in any situation. Often the bonds that are made between international students and their host families endure many years, and are maintained through letters and e-mails. Another advantage is that host family accommodation can sometimes be the least expensive. It attracts students as it ensures them a family type of living at a low cost.

The advantages, however, have not prevented host families from worrying. On the one hand, some host families are losing their unique selling point. One problem is that the majority of hosts in big cities, now generally single and young, have less time available for international students, but the selling point for host family accommodation is communication practice. On the other hand, students' expectations have risen. They are becoming more demanding and asking for more than ever from their accommodation, as they come mainly from high socio-economic groups in their own countries.

To get out of the difficult situation, host families are now making efforts to improve the quality of service. They are trying to make living conditions better, including broadband Internet service, private bathroom, and access to plenty of hot water for long showers. They are also providing students with structured family activities.

It is believed that host family accommodation will keep popular with international students. One Possible Version: Dear_Principal,

I_am_writing_to_share_with_you_my_concerns_about_classroom_teaching_in_our_school._And_I'd_like_to_put_forward_my_personal_views_on_how_to_make_things_better. Honestly speaking, I don't think much of the present phenomena that we are faced with in our school. Teachers teach for the most part of the class and students can hardly have any chance to participate in classroom activities. Consequently, we clon't learn a lot and lack abilities of solving problems.

Therefore, I suggest that teachers should lecture less so that students can learn more. Only by this means can we have more opportunities to learn and get involved in learning activities. Thus we will be more active in learning and our ability of teaching ourselves will be greatly improved. What's more, students will be more interested in the studies and enjoy the whole learning process.

Finally, if the method “lecture less and learn more” is adopted, teachers will have to make the better use of time in class because they occupy less time than before, and their efforts will be better paid off.

W:I heard that you enjoyed the movie last night.

M:As a matter of fact, I left when it was still halfway. Text 2

W:How long have you been at this school?

M:I've been here for about two years.I came here when I was twenty-two. Text 3

W:Did you say you're going to take a vacation next week? M:Yes. I'm going to San Francisco for a couple of days. W:I really envy you. I wish I could get away for a while.

M:Can't you take a vacation this summer? W:Not until the end of August. Text 4

W:Hey, you look concerned. What's on your mind? M:The final exam. I'm not fully prepared yet.

W:Well, don't worry too much. You still have three days. M:Yeah, but three days will fly past. Text 5

M:She's really pretty, isn't she? Her skin looks so baby smooth!

W:Well, it's just that she puts lots of make-up on her face. Actually, natural beauty comes from within.

M:Ah, I can smell jealousy in the air! Text 6 M:Hello.

W:Hello, Mark. It's Jane. I think I'm close to your office. M:So where are you?

W:I'm not sure. I got off the bus at the police station, walked straight down the road, and passed a fruit shop. Then I turned left, crossed the road, and that's where I am.

M:Oh, well. You made a wrong turn. Now, get back to where you turned and make a right turn. Walk ahead for about two hundred meters. And our office building is right across the road.

Text 7

M:Jenny,I know you like Jack a lot, but what do you like about him?

W:Well, I don't know, but there's just something about him. Don't you think so? M:Really? What's that “something”?

W:Well, he's gentle, patient, successful, and MATURE. I think he's my Mr. Right! M:MATURE is a good word, but don't you think he's a little old for you? He's almost twice as old as you are!

W:Well, age shouldn't be something that comes in the way of a person's marriage. As long as we love each other, age is not an issue.

M:But what will others think?

W:I don't care what others will think about us. I just know I love him and he loves me... and that's all that matters.

W:For security purposes, Mr. Schaefer, may I have your date of birth, please?

M:It's June 5, 1978.

W:Thank you. Now, when would you like it to be disconnected? M:Tomorrow by 5:00 PM.

W:Sure. The telephone will be disconnected at 5:00 PM tomorrow. Text 9

M:Helen, what do you think of this advertisement in today's newspaper?

W:Didn't I tell you? It was also in last week's newspaper. I saw it there and so I inquired by letter. I had a phone call today from the company and I've got an interview tomorrow.

M:That's exciting. Do you think you've got the job?

W:Well, they seemed very eager on the phone. I do think that they'll probably offer me the job.

M:So, are you going to California?

W:I didn't say that. I may be offered the job, but I won't take the job unless they agree to pay for my return ticket. It would be hard work looking after two boys and three girls, so I want a proper salary, too. Even though living in California would probably be great fun.

Organic food is fruits and vegetables that are grown without adding any agricultural chemicals to them. Many people choose to eat organic food because they believe that such fruits and vegetables contain more nutrition, are free of chemicals and taste better.

According to analyses, organic fruits and vegetables are healthier for us as they have more nutrition in them. Research has shown that they contain 56 percent more calcium, 12 percent more protein and 290 percent more iron than regular fruits and vegetables. On average, fresh organic fruits and vegetables contain 50 percent more vitamins and minerals than food treated with chemicals. All of these things are necessary for our health.

Organic food is also free of chemicals. When growing organic crops, farmers do not use sprays to kill pests, nor do they use chemicals to make the crops grow faster. In addition, organic fruits and vegetables are free of chemicals used in growing conventional produce to make the fruits and vegetables appear brighter, taste sweeter and last longer. A small amount of these chemicals may remain on the produce, and then accumulate in our bodies, which can cause health problems, such as heart disease and cancer.

Finally, many people argue that since organic food is grown without adding chemicals, it tastes much better. All this has led many to the conclusion that organic fruits and vegetables are the best and healthiest choice for us.
