Fierce competition can be seen everywhere in our lives nowadays. However, education experts take different attitudes towards competitive spirit, which some believe should be encouraged while others think otherwise.
As most students know, one cannot be admitted to a famous university if his marks are lower than others’. Similarly, it is well-known to graduates that one cannot find honorable job unless he masters some professional skills.
However, every coin has two sides so competition has its advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it is competition that drives us to move forward constantly and achieve perfection. Without competition, the products in the factories and the service in the restaurants wouldn’t be improved, and our potential wouldn’t be exploited. On the other hand, intense competition also brings us great pleasure and even does great harm to our health.
Personally, I like competition. I view competition as a chance to improve myself. As the saying goes, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. Only by accepting competition bravely can we become skilled sailors. In a word, we should welcome competition, embrace and make the best use of it.
