Teaching aims 1.Language Focus
(1) The students will understand and use the following words and expressions: experience, stay, for the first time, shoulder, must, mustn’t , can and can’t. (2) The students will be able to talk about traditional life with the help of the key words and phrases. 2. Language Skills
(1) The students will be able to understand passage about English traditional life. (2) The students will be able to write about the different tradition life in different countries. 3. Affection
The students will be able to know the differences between China and Western countries.
Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Greeting and warming up
1. Greet students and introduce myself. 2. Talk about England. Step 2 Reading
1. Read the title of the passage and explain “experience” and “advice”.
2. Skimming: Ask students to skim the passage and find how many examples of the English way of life.
3. Careful-reading: Read the four examples and answer the questions. 4. Read the passage after the tape loudly.
5. Complete the passage with the words in the box .
Step 3 Answer the questions about way of life in your home town
1. What do you do when you meet people for the first time? 2. What must you say when you talk to older people?
3. What food and drink do you give to visitors when they come to your home? 4. What do you eat during the Spring Festival? Step4 Writing
Discuss in groups and write a passage about ways of life in China. Use your answers in Activities 3 to help you. Step 5 Homework
Level 1: Read the passage twice.Tell your parents one piece of the advice from
Wang Hui.
Level 2: Write a short passage about one way of life in China and correct it first and
then polish(润色) it later.
