W: Would you turn off the alarm? I'm too tired to get up. M: But you said you had a meeting at eight. Text 2

W: I think I have a temperature, and I feel sick.

M: Let me examine you. Come into the examination room, please. Text 3

W: Mary complain that she never get any mail. M: That's too bad. I'll write to her at once. Text 4

W: What would you like, coffee or tea?

2

M: I like both, but I'd rather have something cold. Text 5

W: Do you know anything about Mr. Smith's class?

M: Well, if you think the course is going to be easy, you're mistaken. Text 6

W: Are you having a problem?

M: Yes, I have to do a research paper for history. There is a major book that I need, but I can't find it.

W: Did you try the card list? M: Yes, but it is not there.

W: Well, if it's a recent book, it won't be on the card list. All information about books since 1995 is on the computer. I'd advise you to try that.

M: No wonder! This book was published in 1998.

W: All you have to do is to type in the title or the writer's name. M: Do you mean it will tell me whether the book is out or not?

W: Yes, it will. It will also give you the due date. If the book is in the library, it will tell you where you can find it.

Text 7

W: Why weren't you at the German class last night, Tom? Have you given up?

M: Well, no ...I came back late yesterday and found John sleeping in the chair. He'd been writing reports all day long and he was too tired to go out again, so we gave the lesson a miss.

W: You've missed quite a lot of the lessons lately, haven't you? Are you losing interest?

M: Yes, I'm afraid so. Neither John nor I have a gift for languages. People just laugh at us when we attempt to speak German. How did you and Jane pick it up so quickly and easily? You've hardly been in Germany a month.

W: It was neither quick nor easy. We'd both studied the language before we came, and we only needed to revise it.

M: Anyway, all our friends here speak English very well, so we don't really need to learn German.

Text 8

M: Hi, Janet. My wife's in the middle of baking a cake and she ran out of sugar so she asked me to run over here to borrow some.

W: Sugar? Sure, I have plenty. Here you are. I have enough until I go shopping on Saturday. M: Thanks. It's our little boy's birthday and we're celebrating it this evening. Can you come over for cake and ice cream at 8:00?

W: Yes, John, I'd love to. I'll see all of you then. Text 9

M: Where would you go if time and money were no problem?

W: If I were rich and had a lot of spare time, I'd go to the Caribbean in winter, to Sweden in summer, travel about in British in spring and stay at home in London in autumn.

M: How could you travel?

W: By train, of course! And you?

M: I'd like to go on a worldwide voyage calling at all the exciting ports of the world. W: How could you travel? M: By boat, of course.

W: But wouldn't you get rather tired traveling around the world for so long?

M: Certainly not. And then once I'd seen the world. I'd be satisfied to settle down at home in England. After all, it' s got some of the nicest scenery in the world.

Anger is a kind of feeling. Many things can make you angry. When your teacher gives you too much homework, when your team loses an important game, when a friend borrows your favorite thing and then breaks it, you may get really angry.

Usually, your body will tell you when you are angry. For example, you breathe faster, your face turns red, and you may want to break something or hit someone, but sometimes, you hide your anger. For example, you may hide it in your heart. The problem is that if you do this, you may get a headache or your stomach may hurt.

In fact, it's not good to hide your anger, and it's normal for you to get angry sometimes. But anger must be let out in the right way, without hurting others or yourself.

When you get angry, you can talk about it with other people. It's helpful to talk about your anger with an adult, such as parents, a teacher, etc. When you talk about anger, those bad feelings can start to go away. Here are some other things you can do when you start to feel angry: talk to a good friend; count from 1 to 100; give someone a hug; go for a bike ride ; think about good things, etc.

Remember that how you act when you are angry can make everything better or worse. Don't let your anger control you.
